Is love stronger than race?

The world is changing as we know it, the human race is dwindling, but so are the angels. In order to preserve their bloodlines they have bred with humans, creating a new race called Nephilim. But there is one race that is more endangered than humans or Seraphim, Archangels.
As most people believe the Archangels have become extinct, rumours surface of a Legend; that a baby was born out of flame, the offspring of an archangel.

Dyston Blackbell is tasked to find and protect this child. He sends her strange dreams in hope that she will find him. When he discovers that she has enrolled at his family’s angel academy in Melbourne, he will do anything to protect Scarlett. But when he finds himself falling for her the Heavenly realm rejects him thus turning his wings black.

But 21-year-old Scarlett Porter realises that being half Archangel has some advantages. She has developed a unique trait, one that marks her as an Archangel. Will she keep it to herself or use it to fight back?

When an old enemy resurfaces, The Lucifites, Scarlett discovers that Dyston’s older brother Lakyn is at the helm of their sinister plans; to destroy the Nephilim race or use Scarlett for their own selfish purposes when they find out who she really is.

And when Lakyn discovers that Scarlett had only seduced him to rescue Dyston from his prison in the Realm of Light, it sends him on a journey of self-discovery and destruction. One that sees him venturing farther off course than his father would like. Will he choose a new life of love or his old life of darkness?

Love Romance? Author Carol Cassada's Westmore: Broken Ties- Spotlight Interview

the lovely Carol Cassada

I would like to introduce to you the lovely romance author Carol Cassada, romance author of Westmore: Broken Ties. I asked Carol just a few questions and this is what she had to say. It's been fun getting to know her and do check out her book available on Amazon  Kindle and B& N Nook.

1.Where do you call home?
Ringgold, VA
2. What is the title of your most recent book?
My latest release is called Westmore:Broken Ties, it’s the third volume in the series, which is what I describe asromance novel meets soap opera.
3. What's your Genre?
My books are classified as romance, but they can also be considered drama.

4. Plans for a next book? Is this part of a Series?
Westmore: Broken Ties is part of aseries, I’m currently working on volume four which I hope to release next year.I’ve got ten volumes planned, although that could change down the road.

5. Are you a self published author (Indie) ?
I’m proud to say I’m aself-published author. My first book Going Home Again was released by an e-bookpublisher, but with the Westmore series I wasn’t having any luck with thetraditional route, and I decided to switch to self-publishing, which I’m glad Idid.

6. Who's your favorite author?
I’m a huge fan of ghost books and Ihave all the books in the Ghost of Virginia series from L.B. Taylor Jr.

7. Your favorite book?
Anything that has to do withghosts or the supernatural is right up my alley, and plus I’m into romance also.

8. What book are you currently reading?
Currently I’m reading three books, The World’s Most Haunted Places, Maid forthe Billionaire, and Your Guardian Angel and You. I try to read a little ofeach or at least one of them every day.

9. A book you would recommend?
If you’re into history and the supernatural I’d recommend the Ghost of Virginia series.

10. How do you pick your books?
The blurb is what helps me the most, if it sounds interesting then I’ll look atthe table of contents or skim the first couple of pages to see if it’ssomething I’d like to buy.

11. Advice for other authors?
One piece of advice I’d give to authors is don’t let a bad review bring you down. In this industry, you’re going to get a bad review every once in a while, but that’s just one person’s opinion.  Some people may like the book, others may not.To me the only opinion that’s important is your own, if you love your book that’s all that matters.

12. Do you write under a pen name?
I use my real name when writing, theonly time I’d use a pen name is if it’s a book I wouldn’t want my family to read.

13. Where do you write?
I have a desk and computer set upin my bedroom, where I have privacy. It’s my own little retreat.

14. What do you wear when you write?
I like to be comfortable when I write. Usually, I’ll wear either jogging pantsor knit capris, along with an old shirt.

15. Do you have a pet (s)?
I have three dogs, a yellow lab/chow mix, a black lab/chow mix, and a JackRussell/Schnauzer mix. Plus, I also have two cats, and they’re the bestcompanions in the world.-They are!

16. Favorite food?
Pepperoni pizza will always be myfavorite. Plus, I have an enormous sweet tooth, so cakes, cookies, and pieswill fill me up. -Yum!

17. If you were deserted on an island, who are 3 famous people you would wantwith you?
I’d choose Russell Crowe, Bruce Willis, and Alex O’ Loughlin, not only are theygood looking, but they’re tough guys too and could help me survive.

18. Of your characters, which one would you say is most like you and why?
Out of all the characters, I relatethe most to Alicia. We both have this tough, but sensitive side to us. We’realso a mixture of tomboy and girly girl. Plus, we’re the only girls in thefamily and we get picked on a lot by our brothers.

19. What made you want to be a writer?
Growing up I didn’t have my mindset on a specific career, I’d change my mind every couple of months on what Iwanted to be. Then in high school I took a creative writing course, which was ahelp to me because that was a difficult time in my life. I felt like I didn’tfit in and plus my parents were divorcing, so I used writing as my escapism. Iloved it so much that I decided this is what I wanted to do with my life.

20. Any weird talent?
It’s not weird, but I can do impersonations of my family.

21. A favorite quote?
“Reachhigh, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedesthe goal.”
Pamela Vaull Starr

22. What is the one thing you never go without?
That’s tough; I’d say either my cell phone or computer.

23. Your biggest influence?
My mom is my biggest supporter, she’s the one who encouraged me to follow mydream of writing, and threatened to kick my butt if I gave up. No matter what happens, I know she’ll always be there for me. -I like that!

24. Favorite TV show?
I like Criminal Minds, Family Guy, The Simpsons, The Golden Girls, and I Love Lucy.

Author Spotlight- Author Neesha Hosein of I of the Storm

The lovely author Neesha Hosein has allowed me to spotlight her on my humble little blog in this vast webverse and I just enjoyed getting to know about her! Don't forget to click her links below to connect with Neesha on Twitter & Facebook, also check out her book and blog!
Isn't she lovely!!!

1. Where do you call home?
Houston, TX
2. What is the title of your most recent book?
I of the Storm
Book Blurb:
Being struck by lightning as a child sets Kira on a path to realization. Her life becomes a riveting series of events, and her guiding light is the supernatural. Her adventurous visions lead her through some spine-tingling discoveries about her husband, the man whose rigorous rules she obediently follows in a life filled with both tribulation and triumph.

3. What's your Genre?
Adult/fiction, suspense, thriller, with a dash of supernatural and a healthy dose of mystery and crime all in one.

4. Plans for a next book? Is this part of a Series?
At first, I wasnt sure, but when I saw an amazing photo on National Geographics Facebook page, it inspired me to go for book two! It was perfect for the next book cover. And better yet, I too a wild chance and emailed the photographer about using the photo and asked the cost, and he gave me permission at no charge. So that makes me believe book two is meant to be. Its in the works.
5. Are you a self-published author (Indie) ?
Yes, and proudly so. Even my book cover is a photo I took from an airplane. Im a huge fan of do-it-yourself projects, major to minor. And I made my own book trailer, too. Here it is on Youtube

6. Who's your favorite author?
I try not to have a favorite because there are just way too many great ones out there. I enjoy the works of Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, Michael Connelly, Judy Blume, Charlotte Bronte, Khaled Hosseini and lots more.
7. Your favorite book?
Again, I feel bad to just pick one. I love The Kite Runner, A Secret Life of Bees, all seven Harry Potter books (which I read twice), A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Outsiders, A Time to Kill, To Kill a Mockingbird, Chasing the Dime, Jane Eyre, and countless more.

8. What book are you currently reading?
Next in line is the second book in The Hunger Games trilogy, Catching Fire. And I always try to read at least two indie books per month. I just finished Fairy Metal Thunder, by J.L. Bryan, which was very good.

9. A book you would recommend?
The Hunger Games
10. How do you pick your books?
All I need to know is the title, genre and a very, very brief synopsis, like one sentence. Like Its a book about a zombie apocalypse and has a mediocre romance. I like to find out the rest myself.
11. Advice for other authors?
Promote, promote, promote. Even when it seems futile, keep on going. Never stop trying and never ever stop writing.

12. Do you write under a pen name?
Nope, Im always Neesha Hosein.
13. Where do you write?
On my bed, surrounded by soft snuggly pillows, a/c on 68F and under my pink fuzzy blanket. Ambiance is everything to me. Although! If a bright idea hits me, I pull out my trusty brain book (if I dont have my laptop) and purple pen and start scribbling until Ive purged all ideas that wanted to be written.

14. What do you wear when you write?
Preferably, PJs.  Im a journalist, professional writer/editor by day, so at my job, its not possible to get THAT comfy when I write.
15. Do you have a pet (s)?
No, but I did keep my Pound Puppy stuffed toy I got for my 11th birthday. Hes the perfect pet for me. Quiet, loves to cuddle, doesnt require food and doesnt poop.
16. Favorite food?
Margherita pizza or chicken fajitas. I could eat either of those every day.

17. If you were deserted on an island, who are 3 famous people you would want with you?
Maxwell so he could sing to me. Bill Hader of SNL to make me laugh. And J.K. Rowling so we could talk about Harry Potter all day.
18. Of your characters, which one would you say is most like you and why?
The main character, protagonist  Kira. She was born of me, my life experiences and things Ive seen and heard, many of which are embellished in the book to create the graphic scenes.

19. What made you want to be a writer?
My mom taught me how to read before age 5, so my love for words grew from then into a lifelong passion. It wasnt enough just to read. I had stories brewing in my mind, and writing felt like second nature. I wrote my first short story at age 11.
20. Any weird talent?
People always seem amazed when they find out Im ambidextrous. I can write with both hands, and I have three different handwritings (2 on the right, 1 on the left). And I can do most things with both hands, like put on make-up, brush my teeth, shoot a basketball, etc. - that is too awesome!

21. A favorite quote?
I intend to live forever or die trying. (Groucho Marx)
22. What is the one thing you never go without?
Chocolate.
23. Your biggest influence?
Motherhood. I had my oldest at 18, so he taught me responsibility, patience and how to be selfless. My youngest has autism, which has been one of my lifes greatest challenges. I have a blog series called Autism vs. Neesha where I discuss all the terrifying, funny, quirky and sometimes sad things I go through with my kiddo. (www.Novellarella.blogspot.com )

24. Favorite TV show?
Impossible to pick only one. Im hooked on Law & Order: SVU, Saturday Night Live, and The Golden Girls from the 80s. Give it a chance. Its HILARIOUS!
25. A great blog you would like to recommend for others to discover?
Aside from mine? *wink* I really enjoy reading - http://15minutelunch.blogspot.com/ It is so fun

Author Spotlight: Author Mandy Eve-Barnett- Rumble's First Scare

I just love connecting with authors and love discovering their books! Mandy kindly allowed me to spotlight her on my blog and I've had fun getting to know her. Thank you Mandy!

1. Where do you call home?  Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada
2. What is the title of your most recent book? Rumble’s First Scare (www.dreamwritepublishing.ca)

3. What's your Genre? No particular one – I have published a children’s book and several pieces in anthologies, websites and newspapers. My current manuscript is a YA fantasy currently in proofreading and I also have two novels under review – one is an alternative future story and the other is based on reincarnation.

4. Plans for a next book? Is this part of a Series? My fantasy will be published as an e-book later this year. The Rython Kingdom.
5. Are you a self published author (Indie) ? No I have a local publisher – Dream Write Publishing (www.dreamwritepublishing.ca)

6. Who's your favorite author? I have lots. Stephen King, Kate Morton, Maeve Binchy, Melissa Marr – as you can see I have lots and an eclectic taste. I think that is why I do not have one particular genre.
7. Your favorite book? Oh that is so hard – I read several over and over but one does stand out – Ferney by James Long as well as all of Stephen King's.

8. What book are you currently reading? The Time of My Life by Cecelia Ahern, which I have nearly finished and will be followed by The Map of Time by Felix J Palma.
9. A book you would recommend? Ferney, for sure, all the Kate Morton books and all Stephen King’s.
10. How do you pick your books? Whatever strikes a chord when I read the blurb on the back to be honest. If it intrigues me I buy it.

11. Advice for other authors? Write for your own pleasure and not for ideas of best seller lists. Enjoy the process and your writing journey. Find others, who share your passion and grow your writing community for mutual support and encouragement.
12. Do you write under a pen name? Not really, I use my maiden & married name.
13. Where do you write? Mostly at my desk in the living room but I have written in cafes, libraries, sports halls and at friends houses. Anywhere I am allowed really.
14. What do you wear when you write? Now that depends on where I am but if at home comfortable clothes and my trusty cup of tea beside me.

16. Favorite food? Seafood and pasta.
17. If you were deserted on an island, who are 3 famous people you would want with you?  Terry Grant (Mantracker), Stephen King, Viggo Mortensen. - ooh, I love Viggo!

18. Of your characters, which one would you say is most like you and why? There are little pieces of me in several but not one definite ‘that’s me’ character.
19. What made you want to be a writer? I’ve always been creative – trying my hand at painting, drawing, sculpture, sewing, knitting – yes you name it I’ve tried it. But it wasn’t until I immigrated to Canada with a promise to myself to find a creative outlet just for me, did I stumble across a writer’s circle. That moment changed my life considerably. It propelled me on a journey of such passion and fellowship that I will stay until my bones turn to dust.

20. Any weird talent? Not sure if it is weird but I can write spontaneously to create a story from the smallest prompt.
21. A favorite quote? Detail makes the difference between boring and terrific writing. It’s the difference between a pencil sketch and a lush oil painting. As a writer, words are your paint. Use all the colors.-Rhys Alexander

22. What is the one thing you never go without? Tea ( English black tea not the flavored stuff!)
23. Your biggest influence? My dear friend and mentor, Linda J Pedley, who has encouraged, supported and enthused to make me a better writer.

A.D. Duling Presents A Guest Post By Brian Holers, Author of Doxology

Here’s an author’s view on writing and publishing.

Please enjoy this guest post by Brian Holers, author of the literary novel, Doxology. Then read on to learn how you can win huge prizes as part of this blog tour, including $450 in Amazon gift cards, a Kindle Fire, and 5 autographed copies of the book.

Not just for Christians

One of the beauties of self-publishing is that the gatekeeper has been fired. In this new world of books made possible by the Internet, no one is left to guard the door. To tell the reader what is what. This state of affairs may introduce an element of confusion for dogmatic readers, but the good news is, new breeds of literature are being created.
Self-publishing allows literature to cross over in new ways. Traditional Christian fiction publishers, for instance, disallow most references to sex, and even the most juvenile profanity. Self-publishing changes this. Not to suggest a writer should ever debase a genre—as writers we are obliged to choose our words carefully. But the old Christian books kept many readers away. “I’m not going to read that. That’s Christian. It’s boring.” Still, nearly every Christian I know periodically swears, fights, and even becomes amorous from time to time. Christians like good stories too, with depth of character, excitement, whimsy, action. The success of a book like The Shack shows the need for stories of real people dealing with real problems, in a faith-based context. It doesn’t even have to be good literature.
As humans, we all look for answers. Stories are stories. Conflict builds to crisis, which leads to a form of resolution. Sure, some people never doubt their faiths, even in the face of horrible tragedy. Others do. Some never ascribed to a faith in the first place, and instead spend their days casting about for a context to this condition we call humanness. The problem with much traditional Christian literature is this; when a character is pushed to a crisis, and the only change we read is “he fell on his knees, then and there, and accepted Jesus into his heart,” that incident may describe a beautiful sentiment, and may have value to a real person in real life, but as a reader, it doesn’t tell me anything. A reader wants details. He wants to see the sweat break out. She wants to hear the thoughts and words that accompany the character’s condition. Literature is literature. We want to see development. We want to get inside the characters. We want to get to know them. That’s why we care. Regardless of the genre label put on the book.
Doxology is a story in between. The book has a religious message; given its primary setting in rural north Louisiana, that message is Christian. But the characters are just people. They experience the same emotions all people do—love, joy, loss. Their conflicts grow and grow until they must be resolved. Like real people, they go astray, take paths of separation from God, or just from what is good for them. They experience desires that can never be fulfilled, want things that can never be had or even understood. They discover the traits in their lives that aren’t working, and set out to find new habits that will work. Many Christian values are universal—a belief, despite evidence to the contrary, that our lives are worthwhile. An understanding that letting go, and learning how little we are in charge, makes life more manageable. A certainty that the kindness and compassion we offer to others is returned to us a hundredfold.
Some say God. Some say the universe. But we all–when we’re honest, and when we pay attention, have a sense of something looking out for us, giving us what we need. Putting people we need into our lives. We give credit for these gifts as we see fit. Good literature promotes a point of view by showing the reader how a character’s modes of operation and beliefs work for her (or don’t). Good literature, whatever its genre, lets the reader inside. Lets the reader do part of the work. Doxology, in this vein, is a story at the crossroad of God and man. It presents God as the characters experience God, and as real people experience God, looking out for them, giving them what they need. Coming to understand how God has been there all along.
Doxology is a love story. Faith plays a role, as it helps the characters find answers and resolution, improves their lives. Like Jody and Vernon and the others, we all look for redemption from brokenness of the past. They and we find it, as people both real and imaginary alike do, in family, friends, productive work, a sense of place, a faith in something greater. Doxology is a story, first and foremost. Its characters face problems. Their conflicts grow. They look for resolutions and ultimately find them, imperfect as they are. We the readers get to know them, and we care. We sympathize. They matter.
